Don't Hate!

This week is our Fantasy Football draft at work. I have a rule. I only agree to play each year if Favre agrees to play. No Favre, No Amba. The past few years have been a struggle to commit, but I'm here yet again! Obviously, I have already given away one of my top picks. If anyone dare draft my favorite QB, it is not going to be a fun year for anyone! :). Of course I have a couple Packers on my list as well...so don't hate me for still loving Favre! I know it's hard for all my Wisco friends and fam!

Should be a great time and a great start to all of our Fall events!
Bring it on! I'm ready for some cooler temps and cinnamon scents. Not to mention my favorite holiday ever, HALLOWEEN! I absolutely love it!

Meet Phoebe

The Eberhardts sure don't mess around. We sure adore our hounds. After losing Madison we all had (and still have) a large hole in our heart. Madison's personality sure filled our house. Each time we would let them in and out to potty I found myself counting 1...2...3. Two seemed like such a lonely number. :(
We knew we would be adding a hound at some point. The three of us were on the Petfinder.com app on our iPhones/iPods every chance we could get. We really wanted a Basset Hound around the age of 1 1/2-2 years old. We actually found two in that range but they were in Dallas and we ran into problems. The rescue organizations weren't too jazzed about adopting to us since we were four hours away. After returning from Rudy's Road Trip in Wisconsin, we found a Basset locally. She just popped up on Petfinder.com out of the blue. Being only five months old, we hesitated just a bit. Troy set up a meeting with the foster mom at the park. It was all over after that! We met them at PetSmart that very night and brought Phoebe home to meet her sisters.

The dogs are sloooooowly warming up to her existence. She obviously loves to play and sometimes she pushes Hannah and Marley over the line. I know from past experiences that it will only be time before the three of them are stuck together like glue. :)

She can't wait to meet you sometime!

Madison, Our Sweet Basset

Two weeks ago we had to say goodbye to our sweet Basset baby Madison. We got Madison a month after we moved to Tulsa, OK in February of 2000. She was a puppy when we got her. We went to buy a gold fish from a local pet store and ended up with a Basset Hound! Don't start wincing yet...I know exactly what you are thinking. And yes, we got a dog from the pet store. This is something I said I would never do. (We felt like we saved Madison from that pet store, but would like to say we prefer actual rescuing instead.) We were leaving the store with our new found goldfish pet for our mini tank and were JUST about out the door when a lady walked in and asked if they had any puppies. The girl working at the store rattled off a few breeds, and then it came out...BASSET HOUND PUPPIES. An hour later we were cruising back to our brand new house in Jenks, OK to introduce Madison to Chena, our Australian Shepherd.

Madison and Chena grew into life long pals. Madison was diagnosed with a very aggressive fast growing Cancer. We didn't get much time to accept her leaving us. But we find peace knowing that she and her buddy Chena are back together at last.

We will always remember you Maddy. There is a very large hole in our hearts with you gone. Your strong personality is missed very much. Rest in Peace Madison.

Destination: Vegas Baby!

*Due to technical difficulties, this and all other blog entries were severely delayed. Please forgive my absence! We are back!
We went to Vegas for Memorial Day Weekend, and although we can't consider Troy Mr. Papageorgio, we had a wonderful time. Not one big win. In fact, the very best we could say we did in the gambling area was a win of $70 at the Planet Hollywood Casino on the Strip. Bummer! But to be real honest, it does not matter to me. I am not really a big gambler, and would really rather do other things.
Thursday morning we arrived in Vegas after a horrid landing on our last flight! Thank goodness for the Bloody Marys in the airport bar! The whole plane screamed! Ugh! Not cool. But once we made it to Fremont Street, we were ready to forget about that and start our long weekend. Thursday was spent hanging out on Fremont, checking out the street vendors, drinking $1 margaritas and $2 Coronas. We also ate lunch at our hotel the Golden Nugget, where we got to see an old man on a HoverRound run over his wife's foot. It was quite a scene as she shrieked as if she had just won the draw on Keno! The funny part about that was when he yelled at HER for having her foot in the way! Oh, and the fact that Troy and TJ almost got run over by him an hour later as he threw his HR in reverse!
Friday morning we woke up and hit the pool. The newly remodeled pool at the Gold Nugget is gorgeous. Complete with a huge tank of sharks and fish that you can slide through if you should decide to do so. We were starving and even though it was hard to give up our prime seats by the pool, we decided to take to Freemont Street and get some lunch. We ate at a place called Mickie Finnz. Here we had a Bloody Mary and some steak tacos. The BM (as it will now be called) was delish, as was the food. Our waitress rocked. Tara nicknamed her Pumpkin. :). We were seeking a good tattoo shop, so since Pumpkin had a few boldly decorating her bod, we thought she would be a good person to ask. And boy were we glad we did. She pointed us in the direction of a clean, quality establishment. We decided to walk on down around the corner to check it out. Next thing we knew Tara was ponied up on the chair. And I was next! We hung out there and a few hours later the 15 year wish of a foot tattoo was fulfilled! That night was a bit rough as the ladies were limping around in a bit of pain. But that didn't stop us from going to the Hibachi restaurant in the Gold Nugget. It was good! And our table mates were pure entrainment! This couple was certainly enjoying the sake! A bit too much! They were a mess by the end of dinner. Whoopsies!
Saturday was our last day in the desert, so after another wonderful lunch at Mickie Finnz, we caught a cab up to the strip. We started out at The Belagio to walk through the flower gardens. Ahhhh! So gorgeous what those people can do with flowers! We strolled up and down the strip doing some shopping and grabbed lunch at Pinks Hot Dogs. I can't remember what the hot dog was called that I ordered, but it was pretty normal. Nothing fancy. We passed by the Last Minute Tickets booth and decided to see what they had tickets left for that night. We lucked out and grabbed up four to Wayne Brady's show called "Making Shit Up". It was all improv and super funny. Boy are those people talented!
Sorry it took me sooooo long to recap this trip. I actually finished this entry long ago and my lovely iPad decided it would be cool to not save all my hard work. So I gave up and decided it was going to have to wait!
We had a BLAST! Thanks TJ and Tara for being great trip buddies! Now check out a few pics from our trip to the desert!
