The Last Day of 2nd Grade...

Today is the last day.
The last day of 2nd Grade.
The last day of Mia's 1st year of Multiage class.
The last day of teachings by two of the best teachers on EARTH!

This school year blew by so fast my head is spinning. I feel like I have been so busy and preoccupied with work this year. It makes me so sad that it is coming to an end.

We are so very blessed to have had Mrs. Anderson for two straight years and Mrs. Robertson this year. They are two of most awesome ladies ever, not to mention great role models and teachers for the kids! Mia would do ANYTHING to please them. That makes me smile.

I hope they know how much we all LOVE them.

We will miss them so much.

Thanks Mrs. A and Mrs. R!!!
XO-
The Eberhardts :)

Woot! End of the Year!

Please help me congratulate our Miss Mia. Her end of the year tests show she is reading at a 4th Grade Level. That's fabulous! She also knows 150/150 sight words and scored a 95/102 on her Bear Test.
Way to go Mia!
Now bring on Summer!

Miss Mia Elaine....2nd Grader

We got Mia's school pictures back today. This is her Fall/Yearbook picture. They also have Spring pictures. Enjoy!

My Little iTunes Buddy

Mia, Maddison and Kayla @ D&B's

Mia received an iTunes gift card for her birthday from her friend Kayla. We all met up at Dave and Busters two Sundays ago for a celebration lunch for Kayla’s birthday.

I just wanted to report with all of Mia’s findings on iTunes! (You know we are both pretty much obsessed. I have passed it on to her!) So that gift to her was PERFECT! Thanks soooo much Kayla!

I sat down with her and made her make a list of everything she wanted so we could plug in her gift card and use it all at one time. (It would have been dangerous leaving any balance since we all use the same iTunes account and I purchase items daily. I wanted to make sure that she utilized the whole card.) She had noooo problem spending every last cent!

Here’s what she got:

Taylor Swift’s self titled album. (The first one - she did not yet have it)

“Back to December” and “Speak Now” - Two of Taylor Swift’s new singles that are being released one by one to count down to her new album.

The Big Time Rush Album (it’s on sale for $6.99 in the iTunes store…get it while it’s hot!)

The single “Live Like There’s No Tomorrow” by Selena Gomez – From the movie Ramona and Beezus

And…The paid version of the App called Sound Hound. It does what Shazam does, but pretty much always returns lyrics. You can get unlimited song identification and lyrics for $4.99.

Mia loves to retrieve the lyrics to songs via the Sound Hound App and sing along! I think it was totally worth the $4.99. She has so much fun!

Sing your little heart out Girl!

Best of the West Buckaroo

I just received this email from Mia's teachers. Wow! OUTSTANDING Mia! We are so proud of you!
If you know Mia, please tell her how proud you are too!

"Your child was chosen from our class to be a BEST OF THE WEST BUCKAROO for showing outstanding behavior during the month of September! Their picture will be on the Bulletin Board by the Main Office.
Please tell them how proud we are for their awesome displays of respect!"

Fall Soccer 2010 Kick Off

Last weekend marked the kick off of the 2010 Fall Soccer season.
The Princess Strikers had a double game day their first Saturday of the season. Not always what one would want coming out of a Summer that offered few...ok...one practice day. Once the soccer season arrived, they only had a few practices leading up to game day. Needless to say, they may have not had the best two games. But hey, they can only get better from there, right?
This week, despite the early time slot of a brutal 8am game, they pulled off a tie. See! Only getting better!
And yes Coach Michael, it IS ok to bribe the girls with ice cream for good plays!
Let's go Princess Strikers!

Eight is Gonna Be Great!

Happy Birthday to Sweet Miss Mia! Today she turns EIGHT! Yikes how time has flown by!

Saturday We had two soccer games. So we were all excited to relax that night. Our friends had a football party and we decided to bring a birthday cake to celebrate ! After all, this is our Okie Family.

YouTube Video

We gave Mia her very own James Avery charm bracelet. She reeeeealllly loves it! Now we always have gift ideas. We also gave her a Middleton Doll. She is obsessed with dolls. Grandma Sherri got her Ivy, the American Girl this summer for her early birthday gift. She got her first Middleton doll with some birthday money she received during the same trip to Wisco. She plays with "Hadli" all the time and really wanted another one for her birthday. After her first soccer game we drove her to Girlfriends Gifts in Broken Arrow and let her pick out her new baby. This one she named "Ashley".

Today she wanted to go to The Funhouse at the Riverwalk. We played some games, won few tickets and cashed in on some Tootsie Rolls. It was great! And turns out...Mia is a darn good driver! She was passing levels on this driving game like a pro!

After The Funhouse we went to pick up Grandma and Grandpa Eberhardt and their friends from Wisconsin, Mike and Lynn O'Brien. We were going to take Mia to Red Robin for a birthday dinner. She got another charm for her bracelet among other things. This charm is a Dachshund. So cute!

It was a great day. Thanks everyone for her birthday wishes!

Celebrate Good Times!

Friday after school/work kicked off a celebration weekend. We picked up Mia from aftercare and headed to the Jenks West Summer Kick Off Fest. This was the first year that Jenks West held this party. It was held outside and full of activities. Carnival games, bouncy houses, sno cones (yummy!), hot dogs, Safari Joe and lots of animals, just to name a few. The kids really enjoyed it. Especially the sno cones! Mia's favorite part was getting to pet all the reptiles! She was not one bit afraid of the big huge Banana Python!

And when the opportunity came to actually hold a snake, she was sooo excited! She thinks they feel weird!

After we got home from the Summer Kick Off, we moved our party to our wonderful friends and neighbors' house to help them "prep" for their daughter Chelsi's High School graduation party. By that I mean test the food and drink and make sure that the music would come out of the speakers at just the right volume! Their great friend Terry and his family came over and brought his smoker. He smoked a whole fridge full of meats. Bologna, brisket, chicken, ham, brats and I'm sure there is something I missed. It was to die for! I paid very close attention. This is something we Eberhardts need to learn how to do! Saturday was the big party. And we all enjoyed the heck out of all the prep that the McGuires did. They put on a wonderful party, full of friends and family! Did I mention there was a cajun crawfish and shrimp boil too?!

It was delish! As much as I really wanted to eat the crawfish, I had a really hard time. The first reason is that we saw them alive and clawing before the party while they awaited their pot of doom. And here is the other reason...

Yep! Mia found a pet in the *cooked* crawfish. She carried him around the party and named him Crabby. I pretty much think my consumption of crawfish will never take place. Oh well! I can still eat shrimp! (As long as they don't take on names and personalities!)

Calling All Talent Scouts!

After the victorious game of soccer on Saturday, we decided that we all REALLY needed an unwind session. So Troy, Mia and I paid a visit to The Wonderful Kirchhoff Family for the evening. We ordered some pizzas and had some beverages. We adults hung out on their wonderful patio while the kids played. It turned out that they were producing their own little play the whole time. They called it The Hip Hop Girl, The Bunny & The Genie. It was really cute. Kaitlyn was The Hip Hop Girl, Mia was The Bunny and Zac was The Genie. Here is the extremely raw unedited footage of the show:

Princess Strikers Spring Season Ender

Princess Strikers U7 Spring 2010

Well, can you believe that Saturday was the last Spring game for the Princess Strikers? Geesh! It seems like just yesterday we were getting all revved up to start the season. Our little team has come so far! Starting out at U5 in Spring 2008 as a random draw team...we have one of the most well rounded team of girls imaginable! We have lost a player along the way and picked up new girls as well as our team has grown to the U7 level. All the girls get along so well and are REALLY improving with each and every practice and game. And I must mention that our coaches are pretty wonderful as well!
This week, they played a team who they played earlier in the season. Let's just say they might be a bit on the rough side. By that I mean that they might tend to play a little dirty. The last time The Princesses played them we had at least 3-4 girls on our team with minor injuries. Not to mention they were a bit shell shocked. Our girls have never played a team like that before. So when we realized that the girls were up against that team again for their last game of the season, our girls were pumped! It was a shock that they were not more intimidated, they were ready to dominate!
I will spare you the details. But there were a couple of conflicts again with the team. But that did not stop The Princesses! They played their best game EVER! What a way to end a season! With a very much deserved WIN!
Way to go girls! Can't wait to see you back on the fields this Fall!

Dooby Dooby Moo!

Mia The Duck

Here are some pictures from Mrs. Anderson's 1st Grade Class production of Dooby Dooby Moo!
The kids worked very hard all year on this production and put it on for the parents on Thursday afternoon. Mia was a duck. Or as she puts it "The Main Duck". Funny.
Here are a couple of clips from the show:

I think the kids did a wonderful job with their little musical!

Mother's Day 2010

Today is Mother's Day. It has been OK so far. Mia and I have had our little head butts through the day like any normal day. I wish they didn't have to occur at all. Especially on a holiday like Mother's Day. But unfortunately a seven year old's ears sometimes tend to function at less than 50%. Therefore causing one to need to repeat one's self often. But regardless of all that, we had a pretty good day. We went to a matinee performance of Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. It was soooooo cute! It was a small intimate production and the cast was fabulous. The girl who played Lilly was hilarious.

After the play we went and got Peachwave Frozen Yogurt. Yummy! They have Peanut Butter frozen yogurt. It is so delish! If you have never been there before, Peachwave is a self serve frozen yogurt place. They have at least 10-12 different yogurt machines. You fill your cup with whatever you want and then take it for a trip down the aisle of toppings! You can load your cup with as much (or as little) as you want because you pay by the ounce. I like this place because I am not a huge ice cream lover. I just want a taste. My counter part loves to heap on the toppings. So it works out well.

Mmmmm...

Whatchooo Lookin' At?

Later on this evening, we went with Troy's parents to the Bonefish Grill. That is our favorite special occasion place to eat. Thanks Sher Bear for turning us on to "The Bone"! As you may or may not know, their Bang Bang Shrimp is the BOMB, and they have the best Creme Brûlée in the world. At least in Amber, Troy and Mia's World!

Typical Bonefish Artwork!

Needless to say we are all stuffed and ready for some chill out time before we have to start another busy work/school week. Tomorrow is ribbon week at swim! Yay!
Happy Mother's Day! I hope you all either had a fabulous day with your loved ones, or treated your Mama great today!

Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse

Today I had computer problems at work. While they were working some magic on my Outlook problem, I took advantage of the few extra minutes to page through the latest issue of Tulsa People. After all, it was the Dog issue and it has been sitting on the chair in my office for almost a week now. I am finding that I really need to read this magazine more often. There are a lot of things going on around here that I am completely unaware of! One being a production of "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse" at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. This is one of my all time favorite children's books written by author Kevin Henkes. He lives in Madison, just in case you didn't know that. He writes the cutest books and Mia is now a fan as well. I jumped right on my iPhone (since I was without computer) and purchased three tickets to the Sunday Matinee. What a great Mother's Day plan!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day!

Almost As Big As a Chimp!

Today was such a gorgeous (almost hot) day! We woke up and decided that we needed to put our housework on hold so we could take a trip to the Tulsa Zoo. Some friends mentioned they were also going, and we ended up getting there just a bit after they did. We decided to walk the zoo together. So glad we did. It was a great time. Mia and Tia like to play together :)
The Tulsa Zoo was pretty busy, which is not a big surprise. The girls really wanted to take a camel ride. I hear the ride was kinda bumpy. Bahahahaha! We pretty much covered the whole zoo and it got pretty *warm* at times. But nothing a little train ride around the zoo couldn't fix! That was fun. I am anxious to see if they will have the bird exhibit this year. We really love that one. You can hold up sticks of bird seed and the parakeets will land on you! Fun, unless you suffer from Ornithophobia. Yes, that is a new word in my vocabulary. I actually had to look it up. I don't suffer from that one and I guess I have never needed to know what the fear of birds is called. :)
We had a really great time today. I hope we get to make a trip back to the zoo very soon!
Here is a little slideshow of some pictures from the zoo.

Go Trojans!

Last Friday the Princess Strikers got to take the field at the Jenks Varsity Girls soccer game against Owasso. The had a GREAT time! First, one of the trainers came and met with all the girls and took them back to the locker room. While in the locker room, each Princess got paired up with one of the Lady Trojans. They got to learn their secret song (which we have been told they can never share with us) and also pray with them before they went out on the field. They each got to run out on the field and have their name announced over the PA system. The Lady Trojans play on the High School Football field. It was really cool! The girls were really proud and felt soooo special. We stayed for half of the game. The girls were all revved up cheering on the team and climbing all the bleachers! They all ended up in the press box with the announcers! As much as we wanted to stay and watch the awesome game, we felt it was time to go. The Trojans ended up winning 7-0, and we found out that Garth Brooks was there. His daughter plays for Owasso. I told Coach Mike that Garth was there and he said "I saw him by the concession stand! I thought to myself, Man, does that guy look like Garth Brooks!" Pretty funny! And pretty cool as well. We really appreciated the warm welcome these girls gave our team. They were awesome with our little Princesses! We fully intend on attending many more High School soccer games! We really hope it gives the girls a lot of inspiration! Go TROJANS!

Here are a couple of pictures and a video!

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was full of events. Luckily Friday night we just relaxed. But Saturday was BUSY! Mia had a really early game so we had to be up super early. I fully intended on taking more soccer pics, but when I turned on my camera at the game...sadly I realized that I had left my SD card at home. DUH Amber! After the game Mia went with Ella to an Easter Egg Hunt. They had a blast hunting for eggs full of candy, doing crafts and playing in the Jupiter Jump. Later that night we attended Easter service at church. Oh my gosh was it awesome!!!! Go here to see pictures and watch the video of the service. Video may not be posted until later this week. But it is sooooooo worth watching. They did baptism at all five services held last weekend. WOW. You just need to see it. Seriously wonderful!
Sunday we hung out and decorated eggs and had Easter dinner with Don and June. It was not very good, but oh well. What can ya do right? I am not planning my career on Food Network anytime soon, unless it is on that show called "Worst Cooks in America". That one would TOTALLY work for me. Then I can go from there to TLC's show "What Not to Wear." It is a sad, sad thing.

we bumped our head before this picture :(

is this better? not really...but oh well! :)

38 Days

Here it is! Mia's 1st Grade Class Picture! We would have probably had it sooner, had we not had school cancellations due to weather. The kids look just a tad bigger to me since the K picture last year. You can see it here: Mia's K Class.
There are only 38 days left of 1st Grade. It is so hard to believe how quickly this year has flown by! I am in straight denial of this fact. There is a good chance Mia may have Mrs. Anderson again next year since she is teaching the multilevel class next year. Mia would love that, but also is totally cool if she gets put in a new class for 2nd graders only. We shall see.
Time to get enrolled for Summer Camp!

Picture Day for the Princesses

Last weekend the Princess Strikers had one HECK of a game as well as their season pictures.
We love picture day. It always means a free Metro Tulsa T-shirt. I know. That sounds pretty lame. It's just something we like..leave us alone. :0)
The girls played their game in the morning. And a whippin' wind morning it was! Metro Tulsa Soccer Complex, although a really nice location for kids soccer, is one big wind tunnel! The weather may seem soooo gorgeous from our deck before the game. But it is a totally different story upon arrival at the fields. Regardless of the weather and/or wind, the game was spectacular! We won! (Even though we technically don't keep score, our coaches always know who's up, and so do the girls. That competitiveness comes at an early age I guess!
I brought my camera to the game since I am really trying to utilize the skills that I am picking up at my Digital SLR class. We just had a class on shutter speed priority. What better place to practice some action shots than a soccer game, eh? I ended up getting a couple really cute pics of the girls, including one of Mia setting up for the goal she made! Go Mia! She normally plays 3rd attack (defense). But Coach Mike put her on 1st attack for one shift. I was very proud of her as well as all the girls on the team. They are really starting to come out of the box. The games are just soooo enjoyable now. They were super cute in U5 when they first started. But it just keeps getting better!
Here are a couple of shots from the game:

On Friday, April 9th the girls will get to take part in something really cool. They have arranged for the girls to attend a Jenks Girls soccer game. The Princesses will be honorary guests and will be announced along with the Jenks players when they take the field at the beginning of the game. That is going to be soooo fun for them! At first when I mentioned it to Mia, she got a scared look on her face and said "I don't want to do that. They will beat us!" I don't think she understood that they won't actually be playing against eachother! After a little talk I think she gets it now. I hope. :0)
