Universal Studios and Downtown Disney Videos

We just got back from Universal Studios. We had a blast. We drove down last night and stayed in Orlando, right across the street from Universal! It worked out great! We went out to Downtown Disney last night and ate a wonderful dinner at Fulton's. It was so yummmmmmay! I posted a TON of videos that Mom and I took with our Flip video recorders to YouTube. I thought it might be easier to just link this post to my YouTube site for you to view them there! If you click the title of this blog it will take you there. Or you can copy and paste this website into your browser address bar.

Good Night Grandpa Poncho!

I
I just had to post this one. Mia was reading Grandpa Poncho a bedtime story. We don't get many video opportunities w/Grandpa. So we are glad to get this one. Grandma Sherri bought this book for Mia today when we went to Walgreens to buy sunscreen and soap!!! Enjoy! (All we had was the light of the Badger game on TV, so the quality is not the best. But who cares right!?)

Pieces of Eight

We went today to Ft. Meyers to the Pieces of Eight Pirates Cruise. It was fun. Totally geared towards the kids obviously! We traveled out into the Gulf for about an hour and a half trip full of Pirate fun! I heard the drinks were good. But we did not partake. We had premium seats up on top the bow of the boat. We were so glad we chose these seats because we had a great view of all the Pirate excitement as well as a great view of the ocean and a great breeze! This is Mia getting her "tattoo" by the Pirate who looked like Johnny Depp! She could have gotten one by another pirate with no line to wait in, but she insisted that she wanted him to do her artwork!
What can I say!? She has great taste! I did not argue!

Destination: Bonita Springs

We finally arrived to Bonita Springs! After all the hectic travel we encountered, we are here relaxing! Mia hopped right in the pool. Imagine that! Here is just a quick snip it video of Mom's house she rented. We are LOVING IT! What could be better than having a pool right out your door? Nothing! We are all having a blast!

THE WORST FLIGHT EVER

So I am sitting at the Houston airport. I just got off the worst
flight of my life. The "flight attendant" was CRAZY! She was
harassing people left and right. She took it upon herself to choose
me as her favorite victim. First she strolled down the aisle asking
people to move their bags under their seats. Even if they were as far
as they could possibly go under the seat. My strap on my bag was
sticking out so of course I was one of the chosen ones. I was just
like "OK". I thought it was strange, but she was obviously someone
who took this job just a little too seriously! But whatever. She
told the guy in front of me to take his planner out of the seat back
in front of him. She thought it was his laptop and she didn't want
him to get struck in the head should we crash. OK, then! I thought
maybe his planner might not be the worst of his troubles should we
need to use our seat cushions as floatation devices! But whatever.
Once again someone just taking this a bit far.
We have now taken off. We are in the air and she is handing out the
always wonderful snack size package of pretzels. We were about half
way down the aisle. So Troy, Mia and I are all on our iPods. Troy
and Mia are watching a movie and I am reading my book. She gets to us
with the pretzels and stops dead in her tracks. "WHY DO YOU GUYS HAVE
YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICES ON?" She says loud enough to embarrass me
like a teacher would in the middle of an eighth grade English class. I
basically told her that we were watching them. She then goes on to
tell me that we are not allowed to use them yet. I explained that I
thought we could since we were in the air and the fact that she was
handing out pretzels. Usually to me that means we are good to go. (I
have only been flying all my life, so maybe there was some new rule I
was not aware of?) She then tells me that we are not allowed to use
them until she makes the announcement. So I ask her "OK, when will
you be making that announcement?" She turns around and looks down the
aisle and says "It's OK to use them now, I'm just kiddin'." I was a
little frustrated by this point because I have just had attention
drawn to me and she was just kidding? So I am pretty sure I had my
WTF? look on my face while saying "Um, OK, whatever. I don't know why
you made it such a big deal then." She started yelling at me. "WHAT
DO YOU MEAN IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL? WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT IS NOT A BIG
DEAL?" I was like hold it sister! I said to her "You know what
honey, I don't want to get into this with you right now in front of my
child, so can you just keep on going down the aisle?" She asked me to
repeat myself so I explained to her once again that I do not find it
necessary to discuss this with her any longer in front of my child.
She then got all flustered, turned around and walked back towards the
cockpit and called THE PILOT!! I started to get really worried that
this lunatic was going to claim I was going to rush the cabin or
something and the local police would be greeting me in Houston! After
about a minute, she got on the overhead speaker announcing "All
electronic devices are now allowed to be used." And from there she
continued to hand out pretzels and drinks and pace UP and DOWN the
aisle the whole entire flight. She kept stopping at me asking me if I
was done with my coffee cup. After like the third time and a really
annoyed look on my face, she finally left that alone. But she was not
through with me yet! I swear she was searching for something,
anything to just harass me about! When we were preparing for landing
(which is another story in itself) she was yet again pacing. So she
stops right at me and in her most lovely harassing tone says "Ma'am,
would you please put your seat back all the way forward?" I just sat
there and gave her a huge puzzled look. I never put it back! She
then takes it upon herself to grab my arm rest and push my seat up.
Of course it goes nowhere since it was already up all the way. I
just basically confirmed that she is CRAZY!
I really wish I had not let this nut job get to me. I was bawling the
whole entire flight. Why do I constantly have to interact with these
rude people who will in no way be reprimanded for their actions!

I just had to vent. Troy just laughs. While we de-boarded he asked
me if I wanted to get one last jab in at her. Sometimes I am not sure
that he understands how that stuff upsets me.

My Mom is at the Liquor Store buying the ingredients for the
Margaritas Hornitos as we speak! I hope we are not delayed too long
here. I just need to get my vacation REstarted. And I was in such a
great mood this morning! Now I am all depressed and all my make up is
off! Wish I could just wipe this morning out of my memory. But now
that I have written about it, I am going to just let it be.

End of the Road with Retail!

I will never step foot in a Toys R Us again. I am not even going to
get into all the detaila on this blog. It is just all wrong. They
lost me as a customer over a $15 baby doll crib. Seems like something
silly to fight over. But it is for that reason entirely that I have
forever boycotted that store. And the guy would not even get off the
phone long enough to devote his services to me. I'm so tired of
freakin' bad service. I don't know if it is just me, or if everyone
has these same experiences!? It is everywhere I go! Why don't people
like to do a good job no matter what they do? If you are so
miserable, do something about it already an stop making the rest of
the world miserable too! Geesh!
Good thing I have my trusty Prime Membership with Amazon!!! No tax
and free shipping. Who even needs retail!!!!

Good, Refreshing, Done, Bye

Kindle App is Out!!!

Yipeeeee! Kindle for iPhone app is available!!!! I had previously

downloaded the Stanza app, and it worked well. I just wasn't a great
fan of the "purchasing a book" process. It seemed so tedious. I had
been reading that Amazon might offer this app at some point, but
thought it might hurt their sales of Kindle I and Kindle II (which
just came out very recently.)
I just downloaded it to my iPhone and can't wait to try it out. I was
just too excited to wait to tell everyone I know!!
Happy Reading!

****Update****
This new app works soooooo much better than the previous book reader app I had been using! The download process consists of: Going to www.amazon.com/kindlestore and picking out my book. Buying the book using my regular amazon account. And since I had already registered my kindle app on my iphone, it already gives me the option to send it directly to my iphone! That was two clicks basically. Compared to the list of steps in purchasing via Stanza. Don't get me wrong, that app itself worked well, but the purchase point process was horrid!
If you like to read, and have an iPhone or iPod Touch, this app is great! I just like that I can take to reading while bored, or waiting for a table at a restaurant, or for a plane or in the car (while not driving). So convenient.

Basset Beauty Pick Up

I am so excited!!! I ordered my painting of Chena this week! I think
I have already told all my dog loving friends about this girl who does
these custom paintings. Her website is full of whimsical paintings
that she has done previously. I knew from the second I saw these that
I wanted one of Chena. I finally placed my order and have been
emailing back and forth with Angie - The Artist. I sent her three
pictures of Chena so she could get an idea of her personality. I
wasn't sure what I wanted in the background setting. But her painting
"Downtown Dog" inspired me to send her a picture of the Capitol
building in Madison. I wanted to incorporate the place where we are
from and where Chena was from as well.
She sent the sketch tonight. I can't wait to get this piece of art!
If you want to check out her website, here it is!

Cute Midday Story...

Today Troy took Mia out for pancakes and then is taking her to the Tulsa Zoo. She is out of school today.

Somehow the topic of our vacation to Florida came up, and she asked Troy “Is Florida like Belize?”

“Because I really like Belize!”

Awe!

Sam I Am

This week Mia's school celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday. They got to
bring any of his books to class to share with everyone. AND the kids
were all served Green Eggs and Ham. Mia loved it so much that she
requested it for dinner that same night. I have had it before, and know
it is good, but looks sure are so deceiving. It was hard to take that
first bite. But they were yummmay!
This week has been so busy. Filled with late work nights which
included an accounting system upgrade that so far has been failing
miserably and also one of two audits scheduled this month. We have
teacher conferences and swim tonight and Mia has no school tomorrow.
Then, two birthday parties and a get together with friends on Saturday!
Busy but fun! I can't wait to go to Florida in less than two weeks!
I hope it is relaxing as well as fun! :O)

An Old Favorite

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard.
I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.
He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head;
he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the
hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.
An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks.
Curious I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'
The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar:
'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep.
Can I come with him tomorrow?'
